I finally released my first album of original songs, all written by me, titled "
Reflections." This was the single hardest thing I have ever done in my life. The recording software proved itself to be a very steep learning curve, and it took me over two years of almost daily work to accomplish. The album isn't perfect by a long shot. But I feel a strong sense of accomplishment having done it. And I know my second album, nearing completion now, will be even better. Therein lies the advantage of experience.
I'm not trying to make any money off these labors. I'm just trying to leave behind a legacy of my work, something besides the intangible 31 years spent teaching English. I'm fully aware I am not a great guitarist or singer, but know I am a decent songwriter and will only improve.
I play every guitar and bass on this album. My son (a professional drummer in Austin)plays all the drums, congas, and other percussion here, and he does some back-ground-vocals. And my lovely wife, Debbie, plays all the keyboard parts and provides back-ground-vocals as well. Yep, it's a family affair!
